I cannot thank Jorel enough for his advice on interviewing, salary negotiation, and communication. I had an interview the next day and he helped me revise my answers to some of the questions I had prepared. Jorel was also easy to talk to and very welcoming. I felt this was critical because it was my first time meeting with him. Jorel made me feel confident in myself as a designer and made me feel proud of the work I've done thus far. Advocating for the user can be a tricky subject to navigate depending on your work environment, but through my discussion with Jorel I was able to gain a better understanding of what an advocate looks like. Both in terms of advocating for the user and also advocating for yourself in figuring out what's best for your own needs and goals. Jorel was very personable and made it easy for me to understand how he works and what has made him the designer he is today.

I never worked directly with Jorel but from the first day I met him, he gained my utmost respect. There are many designers out there that are hard-working individuals. Then there are a few designers out there that have that God-given design talent. Then there are leaders (not managers) out there who have a unique ability to elevate each team member’s output through servant-leadership. And then are Creative Leaders like Jorel who have a rare combination of all 3: A hard-working, servant-leader with God-given talent and he uses that to benefit the team first.
